Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba has come out of the cocoon to comment on the decision by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to block him from taking part in the elective conference slated for August 8, 2024 in the capital Lilongwe.

Mumba expressed interest to contest for the post of MCP first Vice President for MCP and submitted his nomination papers together with Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma and Moses Kunkuyu.

But the steering committee has dropped Mumba on the post, saying he has failed to meet some criteria set by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

Reaction to the resolutions Mumba wrote on his official facebook page: “Be still. This is just passing wind!
#PeopleOverPolitics.”

Meanwhile, the High Court in Lilongwe has rebuffed the NEC resolutions blocking some candidates deemed to be new in the party from taking part in the elective conference.
