This morning, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is set to hold its convention at the Bingu International Conference Center (BICC) in Lilongwe to elect new party officials for various positions.

Party delegates have already started to arrive and are being accredited to attend the event. The party president, who is also the president of the nation, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, is expected to open the event.

Former First Lady Callista Mutharika, a member of the United Transformation Movement (UTM), has been pictured at the event this morning getting accredited to attend. Another person pictured at the event is the former Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr. Henry Phoya.

The conference will also include an election for the party’s central committee. In addition to the central committee election, the conference will feature the review of reports and party regulations.
