Information reaching our desk is that Chawama Member of Parliament Mrs. Tasila Lungu Mwansa, has been summoned by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) to appear for questioning.
According to a notice issued by the DEC, Mrs. Mwansa is required to report to the DEC headquarters along Government Road, Lusaka, on Thursday, 15th August 2024, at 11:30 hours. The notice is issued under Section 26 (c) of Act No. 14 of 2001, which pertains to anti-money laundering laws.
This development adds to the broader context of legal and political challenges facing members of the former First Family. Mrs. Mwansa’s appearance before the DEC follows closely on the heels of recent high-profile legal actions, including the ongoing trial of former First Lady Esther Lungu.
The summon comes after news went out that armed police surrounded the private residence of former President H.E. Edgar Lungu, raising significant concerns about the conduct of legal and investigative procedures in Zambia.
