Police at Ulongwe in Balaka District have arrested 27-year-old for allegedly impersonating a National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) officer and soliciting K140 000 from some people in the area.

Liwonde Police officer- in-charge Ulemu Kalua, has identified the suspect as Anaki James who hails from Chikanda T/A Nsamala in Zomba

It is reported that James suspect was apprehended while attempting to withdraw the money from an Airtel Money agent, following a tip from a well-wisher.

“It is alleged that the suspect was going in villages around Kalembo collecting money amounting to K10 000 per person, saying that the money was processing fee for Neef loans,” said Kalua

The suspect, will soon appear in the court of law to answer charges leveled against him.
