In a recent address, George Chaponda, a prominent figure within the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), has issued a strategic advisory to the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), urging them to prepare thoroughly for the upcoming elections. This announcement was made during the DPP’s significant meeting, which is concluding today at the COMESA Hall in Blantyre.

Chaponda’s remarks came as a response to the growing anticipation of a fiercely contested electoral battle. He stressed that the MCP must be ready to confront the challenges and competitive dynamics expected in next year’s elections.

In addition to his advisory, Chaponda took a moment to share a key message from the DPP’s leader, Peter Mutharika, who was absent from the meeting. Chaponda read out Mutharika’s directive to the newly elected officials of the party, emphasizing a call to action for dedicated and rigorous work.

According to Chaponda, Mutharika’s message was clear: “A pulezidenti akuti maudindowo musangovala ngati ma jekete. Mugwire ntchito kumenya nkhondo yochotsa boma la MCP,” atero a Chaponda. (“The President has said that these positions are not just for show. You must work hard in the fight to remove the MCP government,”).

As the political landscape heats up, political parties are gearing up for what promises to be a highly competitive and pivotal election year.
