The police in Chitipi, Lilongwe, have arrested three men for allegedly stealing 300 bags of soybeans worth 22 million kwacha from the Sunseed Oil company’s warehouse located at Airwing.
Lilongwe Police spokesperson Inspector Hastings Chigalu confirmed this recently, stating that 37 of the bags have been recovered. Chigalu mentioned that the suspects, Lazarus Watson, 31; Nickson Yekweli, 39; and Sungeni Mlangeni, 21, are accused of conspiring with a warehouse manager and six other individuals to steal the soybeans in August this year.
The warehouse owners reported the theft to the Chitipi police, who investigated the matter and found the three men in possession of the stolen bags at another storage location in Mpingu, Lilongwe.
Currently, the police are searching for the warehouse manager and the six other individuals who fled the scene.
