The newly elected Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Publicity Secretary Jessie Kabwila has once again said that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will continue ruling this country from next year.
Kabwila was indirectly reacting to former President Peter Mutharika who said that the Tonse Alliance, which has seen several parties including UTM and People’s Party recently severing ties, must prepare to see itself outside government in 2025 while DPP, UDF, UTM Party and Aford will bask in glory.
“Now that we have noticed how others have failed, the glory will be shared among the DPP, UTM Party, Aford and UDF,” he said.
But speaking after touring government projects in Zomba, Kabwila said those people who are saying the Tonse Alliance government will lose the forthcoming 2025 polls are not being true to themselves.
Kabwila said the focus of the President is now on developing this country and not politicking.
“Choncho kunena kuti ife tidzipita ndi mbali imodzi yothetsa zitukuko zomwe tikuchitazi,” said Kabwila.
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is scheduled to hold the general election in September next year.
