The much anticipated rally that was to be held by President Joyce Banda and her running mate, Sosten Gwengwe, was sabotaged this afternoon by rains that poured en-masse over the party supporters.

Unlike her other Presidential contenders who had just toured the city of Blantyre after submitting their papers and then holding a press conference, President Banda had indicated that she would host a rally after the submission of the papers at COMESA hall.

Banda’s excitement for the rally could even be seen at the COMESA hall when she addressed the commission and her supporters, the State President told her party followers that she would not talk a lot but was expecting to meet them at the Njamba freedom park.

According to the programme, it was arranged that the rally would as well be spiced up by musical performances by Skeffa Chimoto and The Black Missionaries.

However, it appears nature had other plans and the moment the rally started, the heavens opened forcing them to do a haphazard programme.

Strangely, however, minutes after the President and the PP politburo had left the venue of the rally and the party supporters had started leaving, the rains stopped.

Meanwhile, it has as well been reported that the President and her team were booed as they paraded in Ndirande and Kanjedza townships on top of their scorn they faced at the Polytechnic.
