Man Netted For Possessing 25 Drums Of Tar Suspected To Be Stolen In Lilongwe

Police at Nathenje in Lilongwe have recovered 25 drums full of tar valued at K10 million, and five empty tanks, same suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained from road construction companies.

Spokesperson for Lilongwe Police Hastings Chigalu has confirmed the development and said police have arrested Gladson Banda, aged 42, for being found in possession of the sated items.

According to Chigalu, police received tip-off from well-wishers that the suspect offloaded the said items at his house and detectives made a follow-up

Upon searching the house premises, law enforcers found the 25 drums full of tar, and five empty tanks which the suspect failed to explain as to where and how he got the property.

The suspect will appear in court soon to face a case of Found In Possession of Property Suspected to Have Been Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained.

Investigations are underway to establish more details on the same.

Gladson Banda hails from Kasiya Village, Traditional Authority Kalumbu, in the District.
