The Mangochi Second Grade Magistrate’s Court has convicted and sentenced a 48-year-old to six years in prison for being found with a dangerous weapon made of pointed and sharp metal.
The convict who has been identified as Boika Sabiti, was arrested him during the night of August 19, 2024.
During the trial, Boika failed to explain clearly why he kept the deadly weapon in his bag. Although he said that it was to kill a crocodile, the court highlighted the evidence that he is not responsible for killing crocodiles, which are protected by law.
The state, realized Boika for being an ex-convict, and asked court to slap him with a stricter punishment as he has not showed any change.
Second grade Magistrate Baxter Chikalimba agreed with the state and ordered Boika to spend 6 years in jail so that others can learn from it.
