A Health Surveillance Assistant, Takonda Tsamba, 28, based at Chiradzulu District Hospital was brutally killed by unidentified assailants on August, 26, at Chikoja village in the district.
Police Public Relations Officer for Chiradzulu, Sergeant Cosmas Kagulo confirmed the incident and said Tsamba was from Saiti village, Traditional Authority Ganya in Ntcheu.
Sergeant Kagulo explained that police received a report from village Head Chikoja about the incident and rushed to the scene together with medical personnel from Chiradzulu District Hospital.
“Tsamba left his house on August 25 and went to unknown destinations where he didn’t return. On August 26, he was found lying lifeless in a garden few meters from his house with bruises all over his body,” he added.
Kagulo said police took the body for postmortem at Chiradzulo Hospital where results indicated that Tsamba died due to severe head injuries.
The police publicist added that investigations are underway to trace the assailants.
He therefore appealed to members of the public to provide information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects.
