Leader of Opposition, Dr. George Chaponda, has stated that he wants the house to discuss a report on the airplane crash that occurred in Chikangawa, Mzimba District.

Chaponda argued that there is an inconsistency between what the head of state, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, said and what the government spokesperson, Moses Kunkuyu, said.

This comes as the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) has released a report on the airplane crash that killed former Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and eight others two months ago.

Among other details, the report indicates that the plane crashed at 10:16, according to flight data.

The report notes that the plane did not have a cockpit voice recorder or a flight data recorder. The emergency transmitter was armed but off, making it impossible to locate the plane.

The report also states that the flight was not advised by Mzuzu Airport to return.

It shows an erratic flight path at varying altitudes between 09:50 and 10:16.

The report indicates there was no distress call from the crew to air traffic control, suggesting they did not observe anything worth communicating to ATC.

As of now, Parliament has yet to agree on whether the matter should be discussed.
