Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has appointed Chimwemwe Chipungu as his special Advisor on Organization.

His appointment comes barely a week after Chipungu lost his seat in the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at the elective conference.

Chipungu lost the DPP’s Organizing Secretary to MP Sameer Suleman.

Mutharika has also appointed former Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Commissioner Jean Mathanga as as Special Presidential Advisor on Elections Management(PAEM).

The appointments are with immediate effect, according to the statement.

DPP is fine-tuning ahead if the 2025 polls.
