The High Court in Lilongwe has ordered social media influencer Joshua Chisa Mbele to pay a total of K75 million as damages for defamation.
Chisa Mbele is said to have made false publication against Innocentia Ottober, former chairperson of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA).
Assistant Registrar Brian Sambo has broken down the award into K45 million for compensatory and aggravated damages as well as an additional K30 million for exemplary damages.
Mbele has been given seven days to settle the payment, as ordered by the court.
