The head teacher of Thawale Primary School in Mulanje district is reported to have committed suicide.
Mulanje Police Spokesperson Sergeant Innocent Moses says the head teacher, Pope Mphepo, aged 50, committed suicide last night.
Moses said, according to the suicide note that Mphepo left, he has eliminated his life because of unsettled loans.
The suicide note is said to have a list of names of people from whom he borrowed money, and he has asked his relatives to settle the debts.
Mphepo, who hailed from Ndombole village in TA Kapichi in Thyolo district, also divided his property among his wife, daughter, and sister.
