Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) has expressed alarm following reports that unidentified individuals have been dug up the grave of a 60-year-old man with albinism in Ntchisi District.
On Tuesday, the Ntchisi police announced that they are searching for these unidentified individuals who are believed to be involved in the exhumation of the graves and the removal of bones from Biston Kampheni, who died in 2002.
APAM official, Maynard Zacharia said that these events are distressing and expressed hope that such incidents would come to an end.
Zacharia urged the police to intensify their investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
He also requested that local leaders, such as chiefs, establish regulations to prevent unauthorized people from entering gravesites.
