The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has closed down SIMSO fuel pump station in Nkhotakota district for lacking proper toilets.

MERA spokesperson Fitina Khonje has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Khonje, MERA has on several times engaged SIMSO management on the issue but the company was playing hide and seek.

“We have not revoked the license but we have just suspended all the operations of the fuel pump stations until whatever we have noted and told the management to do,” said Khonje.
