People’s Party (PP) President Joyce Banda has lambasted President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for failing to deal with the hunger crisis in the country, saying people are resorting to eat buffalo beans.
According to Banda, Chakwera is happy about it and is doing nothing to help.
Banda said this during a rally the party organized in Mzuzu ahead of the 2025 polls where she is scheduled to contest as President.
She expressed disappointment that support is often provided only during election time to gain votes, comparing it to treating voters like children who can be easily swayed, something she aims to change.
Banda emphasized the importance of promoting agriculture, improving the health sector, and developing infrastructure like roads for the country to prosper financially.
She also highlighted the need for supporting businesses and ensuring civil servants are treated with dignity, including better salaries.
She concluded by saying that the 2025 elections should be an opportunity for the youth and women to take on leadership roles.
