Police in Dowa have arrested 30 year old  on suspicion that he defiled a 14 year old girl, whose parents were his landlords at a grocery store he was renting.

Spokesperson for Dowa Police Station Alice Sitima has confirmed the arrest and she has identified the suspect as Ananiah Jonathan.

According to Sitima,  the girl had gone to visit her grandparents and came back late. She was then afraid of going home, knowing her parents would be angry.

Jonathan took advantage, and slept with the girl in the grocery store. His wife, upon noting that he hadn’t come home, followed him. She heard suspicious sounds from inside, and locked the door, before calling people to come and witness for themselves.

Ananiah Jonathan who hails from Kainja village , Traditional Authority Mkulula in the district, is in police custody and he will soon appear in court to answer charges leveled against him.
