In Lusaka, a dramatic love triangle took a tragic turn when a woman named Beauty Mulenga sued Phenya Mbangwe, the wife of her lover, for insults.
Mulenga claimed Mbangwe had insulted her and demeaned her child, leading her to seek compensation in court. However, Mulenga’s accusations were revealed to be fabricated as a way to avoid legal trouble from Mbangwe’s family.
Mulenga had previously hurled insults at Mbangwe’s family, calling her supposed brother-in-law derogatory names in Bemba.
In court, Mbangwe confirmed that Mulenga was her husband’s girlfriend and recounted a public confrontation where Mulenga had insulted both her and her husband.
Mbangwe expressed her hurt over her husband’s infidelity and theft of her belongings to please Mulenga. Mulenga, in her defense, argued that her disputes were with her ‘husband’ and not Mbangwe, insisting she had the right to confront him.
The situation was further complicated by Phenious Mpangula, who admitted to maintaining both women and complained about the lack of respect between them.
Magistrate Lewin Mumba dismissed Mulenga’s case, stating that the plaintiff was the aggressor and had no valid claim.
