As part of celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad-peace be upon him, organizers of this year’s Ziyara Parade have donated maize flour to 25,000 Muslims who gathered at Mpingwe Sports Club in Blantyre.
The food distribution happened after the parade from Limbe Mosque to Mpingwe and it attracted over 50, 000 Muslims from Blantyre.
Speaking in an interview with the press Zayara parade Coordinator Mohammad Aboo hailed Muslims for celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad-peace be upon him peacefully.
When asked as to why they also distributed maize flour, Aboo said: “Charity is a very big thing in our religion and you will notice that every Muslim man across the World is into charity.”
On his part Blantyre City Deputy Mayor Isaac Jomo Osman hailed Muslims for reaching out to the needy Malawians especially in Blantyre who are facing numerous challenges as a result of drought.
Muslims last week also donated assorted items to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre worthy over 100 million.
MK350 million has been spent in organizing this year’s Ziyara parade and the charity events.
