Police in Ntchisi have arrested their fellow-officer on suspicion that he was defiling a 14-year-old girl in the district.

Deputy police spokesperson, Harry Namwaza confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).

According to Namwaza, the police officer Hopson Chimkwita Phiri, 30, was working at Malomo Police Station in the district where he was arrested yesterday after the victim’s parents lodged a complaint.

Namwaza said police investigations into the matter are under way; and the suspect will be taken to court soon to answer the charges.
