A student from Livingstonia University identified as Edward Kavabingu has spent two at Mzuzu Prison for allegedly raising an alarm against a lecturer for sleeping with girls in exchange for grades at the institution.
The lecturer is a magistrate at Mzuzu Registry and has been using his influence to get the young man arrested and remanded at Mzuzu Prison.
It is said that the student was released on bail but the said lecturer revoked it.
The lecturer is threatening everyone intending to intervene in the case.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the Judiciary has intervened in the matter and Kavabingu is scheduled to be released any day.
