Information reaching this publication indicates a student who was arrested for allegedly raising an alarm against a lecturer for sleeping with girls in exchange for grades at Livingstonia University (Unilia).

The student identified as Edward Kavabingu was remanded at Mzuzu prison for two weeks after the lecturer who is also a magistrate at Mzuzu Registry quashed his bail application.

Kavabingu’s release follows the intervention of Justice Dingiswayo Madise SC.

Social media influencer Julius Zimwanda Mithi has confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page.

“UNILIA Student Edward Kavabingu who was Unconstitutionally Remanded at Mzuzu Prison after Alleging that a Lecturer who is a Magistrate is hammering Girls for Grades has just been Released.

“He has gone back to school. Bail reinstated. Thanks a lot to Justice Dingiswayo Madise (SC) for your Prompt Action,” wrote Mithi.
