A driver identified as Zakeyu Matekenya has been shot dead at 4 miles in Zomba for allegedly attempting to free from the speed trap.
Eastern Region Police Spokesperson, Patrick Mussa confirmed of the incident in an interview with the press, saying the incident happened Sunday afternoon.
The incident caused commotion as angry villagers blocked the Zomba-Blantyre road with big stones and some were scene pelting stones at the law enforcers.
Matekenya hailed from Migowi village in Mulanje district.
The Drivers Association of Malawi has since condemned the shooting incident.
