The highly anticipated Lucius Banda Tribute Concert, initially set for September 28 at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), has been postponed, Impakt Events announced yesterday on 24 September 2024.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lilongwe, Johnny Zembani Banda, the Chief Executive Officer of Impakt Events, cited difficulties in securing foreign currency as a key reason for the postponement. “One of the main reasons for the delay is the scarcity of forex, which has made it challenging to pay the international artists who expressed their desire to honor the late Lucius Banda,” Zembani said.
He assured fans that new dates will be announced soon, with the same venue, and hinted at an expanded lineup of performances. The concert is expected to feature international acts from Jamaica, Tanzania, South Africa, Nigeria, and beyond, all paying tribute to the legendary musician who passed away on June 30, 2023.
