Police in Mwanza have arrested 40-year-old Chimwemwe Mpochera on suspicion of stealing from men by pretending to be a woman.
Mwanza Police spokesperson Hope Kasakula confirmed the incident, stating that concerned citizens alerted the authorities about the man’s fraudulent activities. Mpochera allegedly tricked truck drivers and other men in the district into giving him money.
The suspect was apprehended by police on Tuesday night at an entertainment venue near the main market in the district.
Chimwemwe Mpochera hails from Mandiwa Village, under Traditional Authority (T/A) Chigalu in Blantyre District.
Currently, Mpochera is being held at Mwanza Police Station and is expected to appear in court soon to face theft charges.
