Leader of the opposition in Parliament Dr. George Chaponda has demanded for the immediate resignation of the Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet, as well as the Ministers of Transport and Public Works, Jacob Hara over over questionable oil transactions deal.
Chaponda is also calling for the immediate resigned of Minister of Tourism Vera Kamtukule over allegedly attempt sale of a portion of Likoma Island to investors.
He said this in a statement released on Sunday made available to this publication.
“As the leader of the opposition in Parliament, I must express my profound dismay regarding the alarming levels of corruption and theft within President Chakwera’s administration. The theft of billions of Kwachas through dubious dealings is not merely a political issue; it is a direct assault on the well-being of the citizens, depriving them of critical services.
“These funds, which could have been allocated for lifesaving medicines in our hospitals, the remuneration of contractors, the support of pensioners, and the recruitment of primary school teachers, are being squandered,” reads part of the statement.
Chaponda went further to demand for the firing of the three by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera if they fail to resign on their own.
Effort to talk to government spokesperson Moses Kunkuyu proved futile.
