Police in Makokola, Mangochi, have arrested Samu Dombo, 32, on allegations of breaking into the house of a businesswoman at Makawa area, and fleeing with assorted items worth K2.5 million. The police have since recovered all the stolen items.

Reports indicate that on September 21, around 9 p.m., the homeowner went to bed after securing the house.

While asleep, she heard a strange noise outside, prompting her to check. To her surprise, she discovered that unknown criminals had broken into the house through the front door, which was found wide open.

Upon further inspection, she realized that the criminals had made off with two desktop computers (Dell and Samsung), one Lenovo laptop, two Acer laptops, and several chargers.

The incident was reported to Makokola Police Unit the following morning, and officers visited the scene.

Police acted swiftly, arresting the suspect the same day at Makawa Trading Centre and recovering all the stolen items.

According to police records Dombo was also arrested in October 2023 for a similar offence and had been released on court bail last week.

Dombo will appear in court to face charges of burglary and theft after the completion of paperwork.
