Veteran Politician Patricia Akweni Kaliati has expressed interest to contest as President in the United Transformation Movement (UTM).
Kaliati who is now serving as UTM Secretary General has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to this publication.
According to Kaliati, in the absence of late Saulos Chilima, she has been called to replace UTM late President.
“I promise to rekindle and revatalise the UTM legacy without any form of boundary influenced by gender, tribe, region, or any kind of discrimination,” Kaliati said in the statement.
Kaliati is scheduled to face engineer Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka, former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe and former Minister Newton Kambala at the elective conference slated for November 17, 2024.
State Vice President Dr. Michael Usi is also vying for the same post.
