A police officer in Mangochi has arrested a teacher from Chiunda CDSS for allegedly having inappropriate relations with a 15-year-old student. The suspect, identified as Isaac Mathipa is 33 years old and from Kalembo village in Balaka.
Reports indicate that last Friday, the suspect met the girl (form 1) while she was coming from a friend’s house and offered her a ride on his motorcycle. He told her they would stop briefly at his house to give her a book.
Upon arrival, he reportedly locked the girl in his room and allegedly assaulted her before leaving her near her home later that evening. When the girl’s parents asked where she had been, she explained what had happened.
The parents took her to the police, who then referred them to the hospital, confirming the assault. This led to the teacher’s arrest, and he is expected to appear in court to face charges.
