Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya has expressed shock over the sudden death of Chitipa United Assistant Coach Gift Mkamanga.
Mkamanga collapsed to death while attending the CAF B coaching training at Chiwembe in Blantyre on Thursday.
Writing on his official facebook page Haiya said Mkamanga’s contribution to football will forever be remembered.
“Iam deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Mr. Gift Mkamanga who was until his death, Chitipa United FC Assistant Coach.
“Mr Mkamanga was a valued participant at the ongoing CAF B Coaching course currently taking place at the Mpira Village in Blantyre,” wrote Haiya.
He added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mkamanga family, Chitipa United Football Club and the entire football community during this difficult time.
“His contribution to football in Malawi will forever be remembered.”
The body of Mkamanga is currently at College of Medicine mortuary awaiting postmortem.
