A court in Balaka has sentenced Henry Gedion, aged 43, to six years in prison after finding him guilty of stealing over K2 million, four cartons of Cremora milk, 34 pieces of fabric (zitenje), a mobile phone, and other items from a shop.

According to the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for Balaka, Mphatso Munthali, on the night of September 30 this year, Gedion and his accomplices, who remain at large, broke into the house of Makiyi Likupe using metal bars, sticks, and rods, threatening the homeowner to hand over money.

Makiyi Likupe, a businessman in the area, handed over the cash he had at the time, while the thieves also stole other items before fleeing.
