Students at Chilanga Secondary School in Kasungu district are calling for the headteacher to leave. The students say the headteacher is doing their job in a way that takes away their freedom.
For example, the students claim the headteacher has been unfair to teachers; specifically, he led to the transfer of a teacher who was doing well in science and math education at the school. They also mentioned that the headteacher is cutting down trees for cooking, which is harming the environment at the school.
“We are surprised that he hasn’t left yet, even though his transfer has been issued. Other teachers are afraid to come here because of the headteacher’s behavior. The headteacher should leave by the 9th of this month,” said one of the students.
To show their dissatisfaction, the students walked to the regional education office in the morning to share their concerns.
The regional education officer, Charles Muthothe, said he has received the students’ concerns and will look into the matter and take action.
