The Ministry of Education has expressed its appreciation for the continued support provided by Plan Malawi to the country’s education sector.
Secretary for Education, Associate Prof. Mangani Chilala Katundu made the remarks on Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters Capital Hill, in Lilongwe when the two sides held a collaborative meeting to strategies how the two institutions will continue working together in order to uplift the education sector in the country.
“Plan Malawi is a true partner and this meeting today has further cemented our working relationship, already it supports with financial support and technical support like, Infrastructure Development through building and upgrading schools to provide a conducive learning environment.
“They support Teacher Education by enhancing teacher skills and capacity to deliver quality education, they also provide Scholarships and Bursaries: this empowers deserving students to access education,” he said.
Katundu further added that plan Malawi is involved in resource mobilisation which is bridging the resource gap to ensure sustainable education initiatives that complements government efforts, contributing significantly to the achievement of Malawi’s education goals, including the Malawi 2063 vision.
The institution has also contributed to this year’s World Teachers’ Day celebrations, another testament to their dedication to recognising and empowering educators. This year’s theme “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education” resonates with Plan International’s mission to support quality education.
Plan International Malawi, Country Director, Mwape Malumbi assured the ministry of its further financial and technical support.
“We’re very happy that our efforts and contributions to improve education outcomes in Malawi are being recognised by the Government and that this partnership with the Ministry of Education is truly making a difference.
“As an institution we are vowing to continue supporting the education sector. It is impressive to see the rolling out of table based learning at national level at primary school, this will help in embracing digital learning,” she said.
