Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South East Constituency Sameer Suleman who is also Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture has demanded for the immediate resignation of Minister of Agriculture Sam Dalitso Kawale.
According to Sulemani, Kawale has failed to manage the Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP) as it has failed to achieve its intended purpose.
Sulemani also accused the Minister of lying to Malawians that government has procured enough fertilizer for this year’s exercise, saying this is not true.
On Monday this week Kawale told Malawians through a media briefing in Lilongwe that over 1 million Malawians will benefit from this year’s AIP.
Kawale said farmers will buy a 50kg bag of fertilizer at a price of MK15, 000.00.
He also said that over 2.4 million people will have access to agriculture loans that will be offered by institutions like NEEF, AGCOM and other others.
