Police in Zomba have arrested a 26 year-old man on suspicion of stealing water meters and other water-related equipment belonging to the Water Board.
Zomba Police spokesperson, Patricia Sipiliano, has confirmed the arrest and she has identified the suspect as Patrick Mbiri.
According to Sipiliano, police have been receiving multiple reports of theft involving water meters and equipment in Zomba town and surrounding areas, including Chinamwali.
Following investigations, police caught Mbiri stealing water taps in the Sogoja area in Matawale.
Mbiri is currently in police custody and he will soon appear in court to answer theft charges.
Patrick Mbiri, who hails from Kazembe Village under Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba.
