President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has shared a deeply personal story about the origins of his name, while addressing congregants during a worship service at Raised For a Purpose (RFP) Ministries in Blantyre on Sunday.

Speaking at the service led by Pastor Aubrey Mwasinga, Chakwera revealed that his father named him Lazarus because he was the only male child in his family to survive infancy.

“All the male siblings in my family died at infancy. I am the only one who survived, and my father believed it was through faith,” Chakwera said.

The President reflected on the power of God, urging the nation to remain steadfast in their belief.

“There is someone bigger than all of us, and our God reigns,” he declared, emphasizing that God is the source of life and well-being.

He encouraged Malawians to trust in God’s guidance and protection, especially in challenging times.

Chakwera also shared a recent personal experience when his sister, distressed by rumors about his health, reached out to him in concern.

“Her blood pressure had risen because of the rumors circulating about me,” he explained. His comforting response to her was, “I am well, and God is with us.”

The service served as a powerful reminder to the congregation and the wider nation about the importance of faith, with the President calling on citizens to place their trust in God.
