The Super League of Malawi (SULOM), through its Disciplinary Committee, has penalized Mafco FC following incidents of violence during their match against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on October 6, 2024, at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Mafco FC faced four charges, including assault, acts of violence, and bringing the league into disrepute. During the hearing, Mafco players and officials admitted guilt and apologized, which the Committee considered when determining penalties.

Vitumbiko Phiri, Blessings Chandiyang’ana, and Christopher Mikuwa received six-match bans, effective immediately, along with red cards.

The club was also fined MK1,000,000, payable within 14 days, and warned of stricter consequences for future offenses, including a potential league ban.

The Disciplinary Committee also urged the National Referees Committee (NRC) to ensure competent referees are assigned to elite matches, recommending sanctions for the referees involved in the match due to poor performance.
