A 7-year-old girl in Choma Ward of Nangoma area in Mumbwa district has allegedly been defiled by a 50-year-old man.

Choma Ward Councilor, Debby Chilombe, confirmed the development and said the suspect was caught in the act by the girl’s father on 16th October 2024, around 07:00 hours.

Chilombe stated that with the help of the neighborhood watch, the suspect was apprehended and taken to the police station, while the victim was rushed to Muchabi health facility for a medical examination.

According to information received from the girl’s father, the medical examination confirmed a case of defilement, and the victim is now admitted to Nangoma Mission Hospital.

Chilombe described the incident as unfortunate and called for justice to prevail as a deterrent to potential perpetrators of such acts.

Police are yet to confirm the suspect’s arrest, who is reportedly in custody
