People’s Development Party (PDP) President Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa is today engaging with party’s grassroots leaders from nine constituencies ahead of the voter registration exercise slated to start from October 21, 2024.
Nankhumwa confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official Facebook page seen by this publication.
“In my role as President of the People’s Development Party (PDP), I am, today, October 18, 2024, engaging with our party’s grassroots leaders in all nine constituencies in Mulanje district to encourage civic participation through voter registration.
“This is in fulfilment of a promise I made during our party elective convention last month,” wrote Nankhumwa.
He added: “This initiative is particularly important as Malawi prepares for its Tripartite elections, which include presidential, parliamentary, and local government elections.
“I believe that voter registration is a crucial process that enables citizens to participate in democratic governance. It ensures that individuals have the right to vote and influence the decision-making processes that affect their lives.
“Mulanje is among the seven districts in the Southern Region where the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) will conduct the first phase of voter registration from Monday, October 21 to November 3, 2024.”
Malawi will hold tripartite election on September 16, 2025.
