The government of Israel has cleared an initial list of 95 Malawian workers for temporary employment in the agriculture sector in the Middle East country.
Secretary for Labour Chikondano Mussa in a statement says the selected candidates are expected to undergo medical examination and police clearance of criminal record from 18 to 23 October, 2024 at their nearest facility.
Mussa says Mzuzu, Zomba, Kamuzu and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospitals have been cleared as testing centres for Malawian workers where they will pay K70,000 for medical screening.
She adds that police clearance of criminal record will be done at Malawi Police Headquarters, Area 30 in Lilongwe where the candidates are required to pay K5,000.
Meanwhile, the statement says the process of clearing names by the Israel government will be done in phases until all the 500 positions of the first job order are filled.
