The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has sanctioned Karonga United coach Oscar Kaunda and player Pilirani Thulu. Kaunda has been fined K500,000 for misconduct during a match in which he grabbed the referee’s private parts.

Additionally, Thulu has been suspended from playing until the end of the year. Furthermore, Karonga United has been penalized for failing to prevent Kaunda’s actions and has been fined K1 million.

Days ago, FAM also handed six-match bans to MAFCO FC players Vitumbiko Phiri, Blessings Chandiyang’ana, and Christopher Mikuwa, along with red cards, for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets player Wongani Lungu during a match on October 6, 2024, at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The club was also fined K1,000,000, payable within 14 days, and warned of stricter consequences for future offenses, including a potential league ban.
