The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has accused the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) of staging a plane crash which claimed the life of former Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima in Nthungwa Forest, Mzimba.

DPP through its spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba made the claims in a statement released yesterday aimed at distancing the party from the brutal killing of MCP Youth Director for Ndirande Malabada, Mabvuto Chimwaza who was found dead on Saturday outside his house.

In the statement Namalomba claimed Chimwaza was killed by some MCP members for allegedly supporting former MCP Secretary Eisenhower Mkaka.

“It is no secret that the MCP has a history of resorting to violence to achieve their political goals. Even the late Hon Sidik MI, who was a vice president of their party, was not spared from their vicious attacks. His mysterious death, which has been linked to stage COVID related cause, leaves behind unanswered and a nation in mourning.

“But the violence does not stop there. It is believed that the MCP played a role in the odious death of the Vice President, Rt Hon Saulos Chilima and eight other Malawians through a staged plane crash,” said Namalomba in a statement.
