The Malawi Embassy in Mozambique has issued a strong travel advisory to Malawians and commuters following a planned two-day lockdown in Mozambique.
The lockdown is scheduled from Thursday, October 24, to Friday, October 25, as part of peaceful demonstrations over electoral disputes following recent elections.
Consular General Happy Saka, in a pre-recorded message, urged Malawians, particularly bus and truck drivers, to exercise caution when traveling through the country.
Parents are also advised to keep their children at home for safety reasons during the protests, which are expected to cause disruptions.
Mozambique has experienced unrest in the post-election period, with protests arising after opposition candidates contested the results before the official announcement.
