Two people have died and two others have been injured in a road accident that occurred at Kayanjamwano bridge on the M5 road, between Nkhotakota and Salima, in Nkhotakota district early this morning.
Nkhotakota Police Station Deputy Spokesperson, Chisomo Chuma, has identified the deceased persons as Ndaziona Lingston aged 25 and Lucy Chayamba aged 29.
She said the driver, Ndaziona, was driving a Toyota dyna double cabin pick-up registration number LL 15141 from Mkaika to Nkhotakota boma with three passengers on board.
“Upon arrival at Kayanjamwano bridge, he lost control of the motor vehicle which later hit the pillars of the bridge and ended up getting into the river”, said Chuma.
The driver and Chayamba – a passenger, were confirmed dead upon arrival at Nkhotakota district hospital while the other passengers sustained minor injuries, according to Chuma
