Police in Nkhunga, Dwangwa, located in Nkhotakota District, have initiated a manhunt for suspects involved in the murder of a 50-year-old man, Paul Chipala, who was killed yesterday in the Liwaladzi area of the district.

According to Nkhunga police spokesperson Andrew Kamanga, authorities are confident that they will apprehend all individuals responsible for the crime, ensuring that justice is served. Kamanga relayed this information to media and assured the public of ongoing efforts to track down the suspects.

Reports indicate that Mr. Chipala was stoned to death shortly after being released on bail from Nkhotakota Prison. He had been granted bail by the High Court in relation to a previous case in which he was accused of murder dating back to February this year.

“After consuming alcohol at a local establishment in Liwaladzi, Mr. Chipala allegedly boasted about securing bail from the High Court, suggesting that only the wealthy could afford such a privilege, while prisons are meant for the poor. This statement reportedly offended some people in the community,” explained Kamanga.

Paul Chipala was a resident of Maluma village under Senior Chief Kanyenda in Nkhotakota District.

Police have expressed determination to bring those involved to justice and restore order within the community.
