A 16-year-old grade 9 pupil from Chinsali district in Zambia ,has allegedly committed suicide after his father reportedly advised him to focus on his studies the night before.
The pupil’s body was discovered hanging from a tree in Kabuta Village, with a swollen neck and other injuries.
According to authorities, the pupil’s father had advised him to concentrate on his studies around 8 pm the previous night, but when he woke up the next morning, his son was nowhere to be found.
It was only when he received information about the incident at church that he rushed to the scene to find his son’s lifeless body.
Police received the report and promptly visited the scene, where they found torn pieces of a pink shirt and a black laptop bag containing grade 9 examination past papers.
The body was later taken to the district hospital mortuary, awaiting burial, as authorities do not suspect foul play.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Dennis Moola has confirmed the incident to local media and said the boy was expected to sit for Grade 9 national examinaions for this year that will run from the 19th to the 28th of this month.
