Students at St. Joseph Teachers Training College in Dedza are protesting to pressure the government to provide their allowances.

The vice president of the students’ union, Adrina Chingoka, reported that only a few students have received their allowances, and many are facing delays. Additionally, Chingoka mentioned that food supplies at the college are often late due to a lack of essential resources like cooking pots and other necessary items.

The students have taken their grievances to the office of the District Commissioner, seeking answers as these issues are disrupting their studies.

Yesterday, students at Machinga Teachers Training College also staged a protest, raising similar concerns about the delay in receiving their allowances.
