Malawian hip-hop artist Khumbo Storah, popularly known as K Banton, was assaulted last night by an unidentified man at a drinking spot in Lilongwe.

In a video shared on Umatha Daily’s Facebook page, only the assailant’s voice is heard, shouting and insulting K Banton for allegedly being arrogant.

After finding a vague excuse to confront him, the assailant reportedly began physically attacking the artist, criticizing his music as “senseless” and mocking him over the recent 1 million kwacha he received from COSOMA, claiming it was an insignificant amount.

Following this incident, K Banton made a social media post this morning, expressing his resolve to continue making music regardless of others’ opinions, echoing words once spoken by the late musician Martse.

This is not the first time K Banton has faced public assault; he was once attacked in Blantyre along with a fellow artist Waxy K after they were found urinating in a restricted area.
